The cold self-adhesive system
Safe methods of installation when waterproofing roofs are becoming ever more important. Fire protection requirements make it increasingly difficult to work with a naked flame. Roof details such as skylights and vent pipes, which are often made of plastic nowadays, represent a particular fire risk. It is therefore best not to use a welding torch at all. This can be achieved with BauderTEC, since it is a totally cold self-adhesive system. BauderTEC is quick and clean to install and requires little in the way of equipment. This considerably reduces transportation and wage costs.
Hot and cold: complete flexibility
The cold self-adhesive components of the BauderTEC system can easily be combined with high-quality torch-on elastomer bitumen membranes. For instance, in order to shield heat-sensitive insulation materials from a naked flame, BauderTEC KSA can be used as a cold-applied first layer, and then BauderKARAT can be torched on as the capping sheet. Another option is to use the conventional torching technique for sealing the main roof areas, and the cold self-adhesive technique for those elements at risk of fire. BauderKARAT thus offers the optimum solution for any flat roof.
The total solution for all situationsThe versatile BauderTEC system enables roofs with complicated shapes to be sealed reliably and cleanly, both in new builds and refurbishment projects. The guidelines for flat roof stipulate a minimum slope of 2%. The high-quality BauderTEC products in combination with torch-on membranes deliver sufficient reliability even if the roof slopes less than 2%. In the case of steeply inclined roof surfaces (such as shed roofs), where torching on becomes a problem, the cold self-adhesive BauderTEC system is second to none. BauderTEC can be used with all conventional roof substructures, and it offers some important advantages:
- for instance on trapezoidal sheet metal roofs because BauderTEC KSD vapour barrier is highly resistant to penetration
- on wooden substructures because it eliminates any fire risk during application
- on temperature-sensitive surfaces (EPS, PVC dome lights) because no naked flame is required
