What is cold self-adhesion?
Cold self-adhesive bitumen membranes are coated on the underside with a compound that enables them to be installed on a suitable sublayer after first removing a separating foil. Then they are simply pressed down, e.g. with a roller.
The main situations in which cold self-adhesive membranes are used include:
- temperature-sensitive substructures and details
wherever high temperatures or naked flames have to be avoided during installation
structurally difficult types of roof (e.g steep gradients, sheds, etc.)
In a system design, cold self-adhesive membranes can be used as a vapour barrier, first waterproofing layer or capping sheet.
