Underlays

Underlays are installed as additional protection under roof claddings consisting of clay or concrete roof tiles, slate, bitumen shingles, fibre cement and metals. In accordance with their properties, they are installed over the rafters and/or boarding and/or thermal insulation layers. A distinction is made between bonded and lapped underlays.

Bonded underlay:

Sufficiently waterproof. Is sealed to give waterproof seams and joins.

Lapped underlay:
Sufficiently waterproof. Overlayers are loose lapped.
